This superbike will be a customer offering as well as for WSBK Championship with MotoGP inspired engine configuration
Ducati CEO, at the launch of their 2017 MotoGP team, made an announcement confirming the introduction of their MotoGP derived V4 superbike. This motorcycle will boast the technology of company’s MotoGP bikes for the engine and aerodynamics and will probably come with 1000cc 90degree V4 motor, which will be the same as that of the Ducati Desmosedici MotoGP machine.
It will be a customer focussed offering with an immensely powerful engine which the company will also use for the production-based racing championships. According to a company official, the technology incorporated on their race bikes is exceptional and they are willing to give the taste of it to the customers in near future.
The MotoGP-derived offering from Ducati will compete in the World Superbike Championship (WSBK), as per the company CEO, and the engine specifications will later be tweaked as per the terms of racing. As of now, the Ducati Panigale is being used for the WSBK championship and will get replaced after the introduction of this motorcycle.
Tough the exact launch span cannot be predicted right now, we could expect it to break the covers by two years from now.
