If you stay updated with motorcycle news, you have to be anticipating the upcoming Benelli Tornado 302 R. India will be receiving it by next month.
Rewind our minds to a few days back when Benelli launched its official video flaunting the Tornado 302 R. The aggressive growl still strike my ears when I try to remind it. The gleaming digital instrument cluster and dazzling LEDs were the added cherry on the top. The bike, packed with all these sweets, was supposed to be launched this month. But, the procrastination in getting the homologation by ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India) made the launch to shift next month.
The engine of the Benelli Tornado 302 R comes straight from its naked sibling, TNT 300. Albeit, the tuning has been changed to suit its sporty purpose. Below the tank is a 302cc, liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder mill which produces 37 HP of power and 27 Nm of torque. The cycle parts including upside down front fork and rear monoshock are the same as on the TNT 300. However, the giant front section with beautiful split LED headlamps and huge angular fairing will make you desire to take it straight on the race track.
Expected to be priced at around Rs. 3.5 lakhs, the upcoming sports bike from Benelli will be assembled in India resulting in a competitive pricing. The launching might clash to that of the TVS Akula 310 and the one-on-one show will be an interesting sight to observe. Among other rivals are the Yamaha YZF-R3, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and KTM RC 390.
