Where Zigwheels have been anticipating the entry of a faired CB Hornet 160R for its new Indian lineup, drivespark.com says that it might the 300cc adventure tourer from the Japanese bike giant. The Honda XRE 300 is the entry-level ADV model which might join the company’s Indian line up.
All the leading bikemakers are in the works of preparing a sub-500cc On and Off-road machine for India. On the list are the Kawasaki Versys 300, BMW G 310 GS and KTM Adventure 390 which have been speculated to enter here for a while now. Honda, which is already performing admirable in the market with its commuter offerings, seeks to spread its hand in a wider segment.
Looking at the cycle parts of the Honda XRE 300, it is an epitome of low capacity adventure motorcycles. The wheels are clinched to spoked wheels, the front end is upright and beaky, higher saddle height and, most importantly, long travel suspension. At the heart of the bike is a 291cc, single-cylinder, liquid cooled engine which is good for producing 25BHP of power and 27 Nm of torque.
We cannot guess the price tag as of now, but for performing on the forefront in the budget conscious Indian market, Honda needs to keep it competitive.
