Honda will apparently flood the Indian market with its offerings as per their plans revealed for 2017. As reported, four new offerings are all set to arrive in the country, of which two will be motorcycles. Followed by the confirmation that one will be the Africa twin, we are overwhelmed now to hear that the consecutive bike to please us will be the XRE 300 which is an adventure motorcycle.
The high ground clearance, spoked wheels, knobby tyres and minimalistic bodywork simply invites us to take it to a terrain filled with sand, gravel, rock and mud. For the efficient jumps and handling the jolts, it gets telescopic front forks with 245mm travel and pro-link mono shock at the rear having travel length of 225mm. Braking is performed by 256mm single disc up front and 220 mm disc at the rear. ABS is offered as an optional extra.
The belly of the bike stands 259mm above the ground while it is extremely light, weighing just 153 kg. For the pulling force, the Honda XRE 300 straps below the tank a 291.6cc single cylinder, four-stroke, air cooled engine. Mated with a 5-speed gearbox, it delivers the power of 25 BHP and 27.6 Nm of torque.
As for the arrival in India. it might land here by October 2017. Prices will fall between Rs. 2 to 2.5 lakh and if the company plans to manufacture it in India. it might be curtailed further. Due to the absence of a pure adventure motorcycle with low capacity engine, the upcoming husky from the Japanese bikemaker will have no direct competition in India.
